The Tempest

National Theater of Greece - Scenography Lab

This project is the culmination of my one-year Scenography course at the National Theatre of Greece. During this program, I delved into the intricacies of black box theater typology and gained hands-on experience in understanding and operating the stage mechanisms within the main stage of the National Theatre of Greece.

 

“The Tempest” begins with a mesmerizing portrayal of a tempestuous sea, marked by salt rain, blurred landscapes, and darkness. As the curtain slowly rises, the stage is bathed in blue light and smoke, evoking an otherworldly atmosphere. The play unfolds in a world of vivid blue, exploring themes of protection, illusion, hierarchy, and transformation. The characters, including Prospero, Miranda, Caliban, and Ariel, each contribute to a rich and dynamic narrative. The circularity of time and space in “The Tempest” underscores the magical and transformative nature of the story, where events repeat and evolve, taking on new meanings
